Space is the Place (2025)

Space is the Place
A book on African port cities’ relationship to mythology. From ports as sites of encounter to ports as portals. From the myths of the past to contemplating the myths of the future, ‘Space is the place’ presents spatial and speculative reflections from Tangier, Safi, Tunis, Durban, Alexandria, Port Louis and Hanoï on port realities.
Conjugating the theme of mythology to both the past and the future, the conversations and essays of this editorial take stock of the imagined and the imaginable when carried in the present. Questioning the schizophrenic features of urban african realities that are both optimistic and fatalistic, the book enquire into a third movement that, by redefining its markers, generates a reality of the interstitial and the potential: an ecology of possibilisation in port cities.
